Really big things where you live

You know....I am thinking about it, and I have no idea.

There is not much like what you guys have around where I live at all.

Probably why I like living here.

Mt Washington is pretty damned big, but it isn't man-made.

I live in the woods, man.....The WOODS.

Here is a photo of the Mt Washington Inn, which (no you are not mistaken) is VERY reminiscent of the hotel in The Shining. It's pretty big for up here....

It is a very cool place (you can go in and walk around in it....) with big ballrooms, a huge wooden wrap-around porch out back, etc.....
It is quite old, and there is even a real Speak-Easy in the basement (now it is open as a regular lounge).
Oh, and Ghosthunters went there, and the fucking place is haunted for sure.
I mean, just look at it. How could it NOT be haunted?

I need to go there. I've always wanted to.

Here is a "virtual tour" kind of site. Pretty shitty site, but it does have some cool pics of the ballrooms, hallways and stuff in there.

Mark may like it too, as I know he likes old buildings.

Tell me this place doesn't remind you of the Shining.

(In one pic there is a portrait of a woman....it's the one in the "balcony".......she's the one who haunts the joint per GhostHunters and all the EVP crap.....)

I've been in a ton of hotels/inns, etc over the years, but this one really is a throwback in time.

That's excessive, but...

I'm really homesick. Miss the city, miss the weather, miss my house, miss the Pacific, everything. Can't wait to get back.

Where are you now?

I'm on the east coast, in Newfoundland.

I'm teaching there, Sarah is doing an internship there.

And my mother lives here, which will be very helpful for the kids, since I'm starting 6 weeks of radiation at the end of the month.

So I'm looking forward to the summer.

Ah. Makes sense. Radiation for something new or a continuation of the last time you were in the hospital?

Continuation. They couldn't do a full resection without either me losing my speech or my vision, so they feel that radiation is the lesser evil at present.
