question... how deep do i install floyd rose studs

So I'm putting together another kit... I have just been guessing so far, but how far deep do I sink the floyd rose studs into the body?

Someone told me that it should be completely flush inside the body so i can just adjust the top part of the studs to raise or lower the action. That seems extreme.

Any help/pics of height would be appreciated. Thanks!

Flush with the body. Seriously there is zero reason for those studs to be up any higher.... and no it's not extreme. There is a ton of torque that happens at those points. The charvel body I exploded doing a Steve Vai move would prove that to you.

The press-fit bushings go in so they are flush with the body, just like they would for any bridge. Some like them barely just the finish (maybe 50 mil).

The studs that screw into the bushings are the adjustable part.

So the bushings are flush with the body and the studs stick out? Or the studs down into the body too?

Thanks again

The bushings fit like so ...

The top is a non-recess FR route, the other three are recessed. Looks like the top doesn't always show.
