Off to order my iPhone...

I get reimbursed from my job for my data plan so I pay nothing out of pocket....so I get to feel cool for free! :grin: Honestly if I was paying for it, I'd never have gone with a data plan based phone. Now that I have one I can't imagine being with out. Heck, I don't even take a laptop when I travel anymore.

This is my only phone and I need email and text more than to talk to people. That makes the iphone a kickass choice.

Not being able to ban Wayne Vinson/Darial from my Blackberry last year is my main motivation for getting an iPhone :embarrassed:

Now, that I have a smart I am much better off. I've used it countless times for directions, restaurant recommendations, price comparisons, and information look ups.

AT&T is the only reason I don't own an iPhone. I fought with AT&T for over a year about a bill for my 800 #. The can kindly go fuck themselves in the earhole.

my little brother is a cook and he has an iPhone. I asked him the same question and got a very nasty look in return.

I switched from Blackberry to iPhone because using a Blackberry for business was driving me insane. Plus, I really liked my wife's iPhone. I actually use my phone's features now. And some apps are fucking awesome.

I'm in Canada, though, and thus do not deal with AT&T. Rogers bleeds their customers a bit, but I've never once had a problem with coverage.

I think that I would get quite a bit of use out of an iPhone. Probably a Droid would work fine too but I like what I've seen pf the iPhone from my friends and customers...

I really like mine as a small business device. I use it primarily for those functions (calendar, email, phone), but also enjoy youtube, iPod, guitar tuner, metronome, google map features that I use a lot, and more. My kids have loaded tons of game apps on it. I just hardly use them. I also like some iTunes U programs and pod casts to listen to while driving. I am likely to get the iRig headphone amp attachment as well. It looks really cool with some good looking amp sims.


(though I am using other headphones, not the white earbuds)






Kerouac, I am jealous. Have fun with your new iPhone. I cannot justify replacing my 3G right now. I am going to wait.

Hard to beat the BB integration with Exchange in an enterprise environment. Having damn near 100% functionality of your desktop Outlook in the palm of your hand is pretty wicked. At my job, we've shut off the ability to browse the intranet or network shares but you should have seen my department's eyes go wide when we started emailing attachments from network shares.

We've got iPhones neutered by having to run the VPN client and authenticating with their network username and password before connecting to the exchange server and sync'ing email. It's a total PITA but people are willing to tolerate that for the non-work advantages of the device...idn_smilie

Flamencology and I are small business, though...he owns rental property and I run my studio, so the benefits of the Exchange stuff are kind of lost for us...plus I think we are both Mac users as well (I know I am at work although both my home computers are PC's)....

Course..that's why I qualified that statement with enterprise environment :thu:

From a pure functionality perspective, the iPhone is the handset to beat right now with out a doubt.

I can only say from my perspective and people I know with the devices....Android has made some major progress with the latest version and really pulled up more on par from a feature perspective with the iPhone. My 2 cents:
*I still think that the iPhone os is hands down much more intuitive and better integrated with the hardware (easy to do when os and hardware come from the same engineering/design pool) . Each Android phone can have it's own remix to the OS so it's not so simple. From iTunes to the apps to the OS in generally it does what you expect and does it well.
*Some folks can't deal with out a physical keyboard and that's a deal killer w/ the iPhone
*App wise, android is catching up but isn't on par with the Apple app store...this could change going forward w/ the more open android platform
*Android isn't carrier specific in the states so that's a big deal for people who don't want AT&T
*multi-tasking is changing so that's not so much a factor anymore
*Some folks hate iTunes and the media format limitations

...it's hard to beat the overall package that the iPhone offers from plug and go perspective. It's a well thought out and executed total package that gets dragged down a bit by AT&T and call quality.
