NGD - Luna Deco TLE

PunkKitty

Horny bag of electric meat
I've been thinking of buying a Tele type of guitar for a while. I stumbled on this one at Amazon. There were only 2 left. As soon as I bought one, the price more than doubled.

This is a Luna Deco TLE. I gotta say that I am impressed by this guitar. Noiseless pickups (my guess is Artec), MIK, locking Grover tuners, and rosewood inlays on a maple board. I've only played this clean so far. It gets a good amount of twang and some nice jazz sounds. The pickups are very responsive. I don't see any reason to change them. It's a very clean sounding guitar. The fretwork and setup are flawless. The neck is thin. More like a Strat neck than a Tele neck. But it's a good feeling neck. And there was a lot of attention paid to details on this guitar.

The top is figured maple. It looks like the laminate is fairly thick. I think the back is maple also. I haven't been able to confirm that. Either way, it's about 5 pieces glued together. Not a bad deal for less than $250 delivered.

Very sharp guitar.......I have seen a couple Luna's and the quality seem really good for the price.

HNGD!

Thanks for the review girl! :thu: NOW I AM intrigued! I am bummed though, that the price shot up. I might check at Cream City/Warp Drive Music, to see what they can do for me, since they are a Luna Dealer. They gave me a great deal on my Fender Jag. Maybe I can swing a good deal from them, for a Luna. I wonder how well they sound with some overdrive...........

I really like that a lot. Looks like a lot of cool features for not much money. The frets look huge in the pictures...which really peaks my interest.

Hmmmm, VERY intriguing. But the cheapskate in me, would insist upon driving down to pick it up to save on shipping, in spite of the crappy traffic and rip-off tolls on the Tri-State (I just about lost my mind on the Eden, trying to get to Chicago Music Exchange before they closed, last year in April - so much for going directly there after work [in Racine]; it took 1 hour to go 10 miles!!). Why can't it be at the Music Go Round in Kenosha (only 10 miles from where I work), or better yet, the one here in Greenfield? Nevertheless, I put a watch on it. There are 22 hours to go. I also might wait a few days, just to make sure that we really do get the profit sharing bonus, it looks like we're going to get at work, before I throw down more money on a guitar. But the listing doesn't end until tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully by then, I'll know whether or not a bonus is a done deal. Hope your weather is as nice as ours is today. Thanks for the info! :)

Handsome guitar, sir. If I should ever be in the market for a thinline Tele, I know where to look.

How's the control cavity look? I've noticed that this can be the Achilles' heel of budget guitars.

The wiring is typical of an Asian import. Alpha 500k mini pots. Pretty clean factory wiring. Everything works fine as is. If something electronic needs fixing, I'll fix it then. The pickups measure 5.5 and 6.6k.

Oh, and FWIW, I'm a woman.

It would be an easy drive for you. 294 south to 95th Street. Go east on 95th for about a block or 2. Then take Harlem (rt. 43) south to 159th street. Take a left and go about 3/4 of a mile. The Music Go Round is on your left in a strip mall. If you call them, they will hold it for you and pull the ad from ebay.

That is pretty hot! I think Mystixboi has some kind of artist deal with them and several of their guitars have piqued my interest. Happy New Tele Day!

Hmmmm, it becomes more intriguing by the minute! I'll see tomorrow how things look at work. Heading there directly from work would be the way to go (since its about 25 miles closer than home is [Racine's only about 15 or 20 miles from the state line]). I have to remember where 95th street is. I wonder if I can get to 95th Street from US Hwy 41, avoiding the tolls altogether [$1.50 per toll is kind of a rip-off, IMO]). BTW, is that Music Go Round in the Chicagoland sales tax district (I thought Milwaukee County's sales tax sucked, until I got a taset of Chicago's sales ta last year, when I bought my old Eastwood Sidejack baritone guitar at Chicago Music Exchange)?

Taking 294 is the way to go. 41 will take you too far out of the way. 294 is a straight shot. You raise a good point with the sales tax. It's Cook county so that's 10%. You might be better off to order it from ebay and have it shipped. There would only be a difference of about $9. Is it really worth $9 + tolls to deal with 294 during rush hour? For that small of a difference, I'd let them ship it.

PunkKitty,

Glad to see you over here. The little I have heard about Luna has not been good. So glad you are liking it. I think the color suits you. 3 pink paws up from Lamb Chop.

Hi Woody!

This brings on some LP Jr. GAS to me.

And yes, PunkKitty, it might just be cheaper to have it shipped to my workplace. We'll see. If I can get it for $200 (there's a "Make Best Offer" provision), I might go for it.

Hi Woody! It's good to see another friendly avitar here.

I was leery of them too. I've seen mixed reviews. Their higher end guitars tend to get pretty good reviews. The lower end ones tend to get crappy reviews. I figured that if I didn't like it, I could send it back as defective. But I can't do it. i got a good one. Maybe it was just dumb luck. The reviews I saw of this particular line tended to be really good. But they all got deleted with 2.0 (imagine that).
