It's funny to say "junior recital" when you're going to be 48 years old in two weeks and mass as much as two of your classmates, but hey...

Overall it went well. I'm still not very comfortable playing jazz, especially in this format so I am very happy with my performance in spite of a few "moments". I'm hoping that by next years senior recital that I'm more comfortable in my "musical skin".

Listening to the recording now. Might share it later.....

EDIT:
ok...I was going to break up the set from my protools session but I haven't had time...here is the full set "warts and all" from the house recording: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gvdlyxkt1aof39u/Mark_Wein_Recital_1.wav?dl=0

Sounds groovy despite any discomfort you may have playing jazz.
Thanks! “Billies Bounce” is a Charlie Parker blues with bebop changes so its still kind of in my wheelhouse. Tomorrow I’ll post some of the actual jazz stuff...

Honest question:

Is this something on which they evaluate you? If so, what is the criteria?

My younger son plays viola and is starting to play in school competitions. It's really interesting to me how they judge it.

You know how folks like to say, "Music is not a competition?" It darn sure can be.

Well, I’d imagine in competitions such as what you are describing there must be some sort of rubric. I have no idea how I’m getting graded.
