Let's remember some GJ guys

I was just thinking about him. I'm friends with him on FB. Haven't seen him post in a while though. I'm also FB friends with his ex.
I am as well. Peeker just suddenly dropped out of sight here, then did the same on Facebook. I liked him a lot; he reminds me of my son.

Who was the guy who used to rage at me epically about how terrible Night Ranger was? I think he was pretty tight with Uma during the time of the infamous duel. He also made noises around that time about challenging Jimmy James to a duel on the Crazy Train solo. Getting old, can't remember these things.

Bionic Muffins, maybe?

No, that was a different guy. He was a younger dude from Texas who posted some decent original music, as I remember, and actually met up with MattBurnside at one point. I just went through some old threads here, and I'm pretty sure it was Requiem156 that I'm thinking of. Did he ever do the duel with JJ?

Requiem156! I think you're right.

I got on very well with him, and he was quite a technical guitarist. He could play Tosin Abasi tunes and whatnot. I dunno if him and Oscar ever did the 'Crazy Train' solo showdown, but I'm sure Requiem could have played it if he had. Heck, even I can play that solo. :embarrassed:

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure they didn't go ahead, because we would remember it if they had, right? It'd be something that people would have talked more about.

Just thought of another forumite: Is AlienSporeBomb still around? He used to play some cool stuff.

I didn't get along with Req very well. I thought he was kind of snooty, and he thought I had terrible taste in music and liked to let me know that he thought I was a weak player. Oh well! :thu:

I see ASB on a private Facebook forum all the time. I think he is doing well, and still playing and composing.

Archaeology Jam :embarrassed:

PhlatPhive: Dutch guy who was into Latin/acoustic stuff, great fella, wonderful sense of humour
Gopher666: hard rocker (I think) from Norway, I sent him a copy of The Art Of War that I had bought in Norwegian by accident - he was very thankful, lost some friends at the Breivik attacks
Requiem156: Nice guy from Portland, Maine who owned a couple of Parker Flys if I'm not mistaken, had a very varied taste in music
ChuckyBB: easy-going chap from Philadelphia, I think, spent some time in London, spoke to him on the phone a couple of times
Faber: Even though he was the only other Dane at GJ we never interacted much, I don't even know what music he liked
Taylorman: Soft-spoken British Indian who liked early Springsteen, very nice and gifted guy
Motorik: he's around but gets honourable mentions for unknowingly inspiring me to pick the topic for my master's thesis, earned me a PhD scholarship, that I turned down in favour of a job :embarrassed:
Strings74: light-hearted NYC lawyer, I don't think he listened to anything else than Iron Maiden
r0g3r (sp?): we had nothing in common, agreed on nothing but got along fine, was always nice to me
Brocktoon: he knew bands that were so obscure even the band members themselves didn't know about their own existence, beat him once in Company of Heroes and we never played again :embarrassed:
Abrasion: not the loudest bloke but he was quite witty and liked teh br00dlz
tamore (sp?): boy did we argue, that was at the time I did my divinity degree, New Atheism was a thing and I just couldn't help myself (sorry, guys! :embarrassed:), was never ugly though, a true gent
Mo: actually him and I agreed on very little except the joys of curry but we just always got along so well, we were friends on FB until I stopped using it and closed my profile a few years later, miss him

Good times!

I remember all of them except Faber.

Brocktoon is still here, just under a different name. You should be able to work him out pretty soon. Likes to cycle in really flat places.
