Ha. Clearly you have never been driving in the WAYMO proving grounds, AKA the SF peninsula. Autonomous cars are at the level of blind men driving bumper cars. Ok, maybe that is an insult to blind drivers. If you don't believe me, just step off a curb in front of one. The only way they will ever 'work' is if they are all connected to the same master system. Current AI simply lacks the ability to mimic a brain. They drive the same roads over and over, and average the traffic situations that they encounter. I hope to be dead before that happens, and not by stepping out in front of one.
