yes, he did and does. depends on the song. Lagrange was recorded with a 1955 hardtail strat.
he also has a pink one famously given to him by Jimi Hendrix, which has been used on several recordings.

I saw a guy at a car show in August. He was completely bald. Apparently he had been wearing a mesh cap most of the day and the seams of the panels were enough shade to leave tan lines.
So, he had a nice red scalp with white lines.
