I think my brother used to work in asbestos removal, and told me most of the stuff didn't cause any trouble--not sure if it was particle size, or the "kind" of asbestos, or what. Maybe that's just what his boss told him.

About once a month or so someone posts on the home improvement subreddit that they found asbestos when remodeling their house and now they are sure they are dying.

If only they knew how ubiquitous asbestos was back in the 60s and even 70s.

it's particle/fiber size - it needs to be small enough to float in the air and be inhaled to be dangerous. If it's not crumbling into dust/fibers it's not really a problem.
