And to be clear, the airport has been there since WWII, and was an active regional airport when they bought their land. The airport has not expanded or changed at all, and serves only private planes and not commercial airline traffic. The largest/loudest thing that lands there might be a gulfstream private jet.

There is a trailer park in Naples, Florida right at the end of the local airport runway. The people bought the land as it was super cheap...you know, because of the noise. The people that live there have been complaining about the airport ever since, trying to ban jets, restrict use times, and so on. The area is in a massively empty area of Collier County, so they could move their trailer park elsewhere, but land is expensive, and they got such a great deal on it that the airport should shut down to improve their lives.
Here in Chicago, people who live around O'Hare and Midway airports have been complaining about noise for years. Back in the 1980's to 2000's, they filed a bunch of lawsuits and got the city of Chicago to pay for soundproofing their homes. Exactly what did you expect when you move right next to one of the busiest airports in the world, and one of the busiest domestic airports in the USA? Almost all of the houses involved in the lawsuits were built long after the airports were there. I'm amazed that the courts approved the settlements and didn't tell the homeowners to go to hell.
