Let's do this...Neil Finn appreciation thread.

Fantastic songwriter imo, and most of those Crowded House songs....man, what songs...:embarrassed:

Comes across as a very nice bloke as well, never a bad thing.

I remember what McCartney said in the 90s when he was asked what it was like being regarded as the best living songwriter, he said "ask Neil Finn".

There's the Crowded House stuff, his stuff with his brother Tim, and his solo stuff or together with his son Liam. What sticks with me is an impeccable sense of melody, with about 10-12 of the CH stuff still being faves of mine ever since the early 90s.

Big fave is probably this one (and John would be proud of it):

Super talented.

I have that whole 2007 house of blues concert saved on youtube, what a fantastic show.
And there's everything from the quiet singer/songwriter stuff to the loud rocker stuff like "Locked Out".

If the Beatles reformed in the late 90s he'd slot right in as John really.

An artist in his own right though. And I still miss Hester. Paul was a one of a kind bloke.
This clip from their farewell concert says it all really.

Talented in all his careers from split enz to now. I still remember crowded houses last gig at the opera house in Sydney. Amazing...

Big fan. Mostly of the Split Enz era, but his whole body of work is great.

"I got you" is one of our absolute staple songs. We've played it at every show we have done.

No doubt talented but I find Crowded House terribly dull dinner party music.

And if I ever hear Weather with You again, somebody is going to get killed

Love me some Crowded House, Split Enz, and most importantly Neil f'n Finn!!!

There are some gems on his latest solo album. I can see some of the comparisons to Try Whistling This, but that quickly goes away after the first track.

That moustache he had though.

Always loved Crowded House. Saw them live in Edinburgh many moons ago.

Think my fav song would be Better Be Home Soon.

*dismisses as something that wouldn't bring teh rawk*

Guess I've never listened to him.

I appreciate someone's talent best when I see them sit down with a guitar or at a piano and play.
