I've got the greatest guitar of them all!

non-feeding is ideal unless there's a good song here

you tried to sell these guitars on at least 3 different forums. so don't bother .... just like you stopped posting on ...

But this is my favorite thread...
-1 -1 +1 = -1.

Hi paulskirocks. It's not lookin too well - prolly time for a lock - and imho that's a nice end for a nice thread on a nice forum compared to flame-out-kills more common elsewhere. When some threads flame out in shit storm I like seeing them killed. But here y'all are adults so that prolly won't be the case. And who knows if y'all wanna keep postin to it you may keep it alive in spite of me minimizing my posts. Since I finished the heads I'm not thinking I have a guitar lack-situation right now and am still getting lots of bicycle-interest from friends - so I expect to be shifting focus already but as you can see I can be side-tracked by a busted head (or possibly some good ideas here too).

From what I can figure here the core "annoyance issue" isn't so much the spam-ish aspects of thread but instead the forums themselves which have a built in popularity contest aspect so that the threads where people post most come to the top. That is normally fine but in a thread like this one that goes against the grain of the mainstream image or rock-god driven market and that is actually hostile toward technology (eg: tube snobish aspects) while stating the opposite... No wonder it annoys some people - and some might argue that's a good thing too. But clearly on the shitty forums that leads to shit storm flame outs better off killed. And why bother going back to those forums unless you're after.... well wait a second... if I had not been the one getting flamed so much it might not have seemed like such a shitty forum either.

And perhaps there are still better yet ways to engage the audiences in great ways. For example, nobody has stated or considered what's really happening here. Some guitar playing amateur luthier just stated he's built the greatest guitar ever and some people are taking him seriously. If we look at the hostility toward modeled amps that alone is amazing. Perhaps there's something to it!

One example is prolly the V&T knobs thread as compared to the head-chopping aspect here. For example, on that thread we got everyone's perspective till the truth of the technology came to light on the thread (I contributed there w/o annoyances). In contrast here, I myself tested technology of head configurations without asking them their opinions and then reported the findings. Son in contrast on the blogger-view what an contrast - rather than collaborative it can come off as know-it-all-arrogance-etc. Still nobody ever taught me that stuff. One guy I remember talking to in the 90s asked me if I knew anything about heads and layouts and that he had met a guy that drilled holes on his... that left a lingering set of questions in my head - but never broke one till now so never was motivated before.

So all in all I think the "don't feed the trolls" concept or thread-lock concept are prolly best here. Alternatively, paulskirocks may have many friends .... or even trollers posting n troll images and trollin bout trollin... may want to keep this thread open. Fine. One thread attributed me as the greates troll ever but boxi and the ginger-kid got me on that one. That's ok here too.

As you can see I don't have any guitar-meaningful content here today so this is just another side about spam-ish threads. If I do have more to say later maybe I can edit it into this message rather than pushing up the popularity with a fresh post.

Hope that helps,

By Bye Blonde

The blond is gone (500) and I'm keeping the ML. I will have to use the funds to make something better.

I'd like to start with somthing like John Watt's semi-solid body (see Thread: John Watt's semi-solid-body guitar. Where's yours?).

I did just purchase a Line 6 Spider for tbd future project. First I think I want to tear down the prototype and add substantial re-enforcements to the structure while adding input pots and general improvements to see if I can make it play as well as the ML. :helper:

Hi Jake, yea! I'll have to replace this video now too! not technically spam anymore either haha...

Figuring a few posts w/ updates, maybe pupular for day or so- then non-feed intended till start building the next one - amp on way, guitar sitin here - need a few dead bodies to hog out like John Watt's and it aught a kick!

Funny the prototype gets more back-porch use than the ML since the ML is still semi-nice. That's where I've been enjoying it's boom-box-ishness with the mp3 player-line-in-jack. I was using an actual boom box on the porch with me but there were so many commercials on all the radio stations and nothing to enjoy till I went to the line-in.:):)

Progress On New Build

Hi Guys,
Y'all get a kick out of this. Someone over on HCAF photoshopped my guitar in it's ugly head-state!
...
If y'ure following this much I've started a new build and have been sharing it over on the old HCAF thread.

The back side is going on with screws since the hot melt is nearly impossible to separate. Here's a few progress pics:

That's about as far as its going for today. Now I need the new amp to fill in the electronics, power up, deconstruct, finish, ...

The Best Boom Box Ever Yet Built TOO!

just when you thought it couldn't get more ridiculous...
Hi Guys!:helper: thanks for the mojo! :thu:

As earlier postings teased me about a boom-box guitar I figured you guys might also find it interesting that my boom box has actually been replaced for my back porch. Here's my new and better boom box - wired to the smart-phone which pumps in Pandora:

And best of all is whenever something comes on that I want to play along I just grab it and play along
Like this (edit1: the "live strings" are used intentionally at the very end):

As far as external amps, and house-stereo what I would say is it's still very nice to have the capability just like a boom box. For example, my Garage is wired w/ good stereo and guitar-amp but I still use the amp-in-guitar more for the convenience and versatility. I can even run and play. Or just kick the ball with the dog like this!

edit2: more video typical of sitting on my back porch. The rain does make the chair wet so it's definitely a boom-box-zone.

The Amp Fitting

Hi Guys, making progress finally. I figured how to fit the amp and cut it in. The guitar even closes. Now it's just wiring and then a whole lot of glue. Still I'm thinking I like being able to remove the back. Oh yea the weight is now 10.7 lbs.

Powered Up the New Power Guitar

After playing for a few hours I can now describe the live strings aspects from this new build. It's there but takes more power to get it started and it remains under 100% control via palm muffling in this guitar. In contrast the ML breaks out a lot sooner and becomes un-umffle-able before 100% power. This guitar becomes very hot but not locked-crazy at full power. Thus its my impression that this guitar build hit a sweet spot on the live stings vs power output concept. That is enough rigidity to handle a 5W amp with a 6" speaker. And with the amp-models there is enough sustain to last and last. It doesn't really break out on it's own till quite strong - but sustain-concept applies even lower than the ML. So like the ML has more sustain than normal even when low, this has even more cause it's more solid. Here's my current notion of the spec with variability for the weight of this new one.

1. Appearance - it has to look pretty in order to be marketable
2. 100% cordless mobility - Amp in guitar (multi-modeled and >2W or it's disappointing)
3. Speaker >4" or it's disappointing)
4. weight - depends but VERY IMPORTANT (ML and V acoustics <7lbs, electric < 13 lbs w/ goal of 8)
5. neck size (full or 24.75)
6. battery life (month or few leave-ons), and general reliability - otherwise would suck
7. Live Strings - as great sustain in low-V and palm-muffle-able at high-V.
Options/alternatives: Build in a Transmitter and/or pre-amp.
Wiring: out-jack=in-jack-of-amp, all amp's I/O, and switch-out-headphones/line helps if wanted same time amp-is-on

Updates: Added mic to Power Guitar #4, and Starting #5

Mr Microphone!
It's like a kareoke box now too. First playing pandora through it it has a gain for the mic input and another chan-gain for the guitar - swweeeeet!:thu:

Since I had it open for adding the mic I also used the new sander-pad for the angle grinder on the back panel and lightened it to 11.7 lbs (incl the mic, strap, and batteries --- that's a loaded weight not a "dry-weight").

And now that it's done (may still polish some) it's time for another build - trying to get it pretty - and also perfecting the design toward satisfaction.

Power Guitar #5 getting started:
Twas an 8lbs guitar. I like the head design and playability - a really "good" low-cost guitar.

Going with another Line 6 Micro amp too. Will have to include the tap button and tuner-window this time since there's some sort of rythm function to the tap button indicated in the instructions but not clear how it works.

Wait...You may be the only person on earth who can make a guitar do one thing no one else can....
