If you look closely, this will tell you enough to break your heart

Why funny? Seth was an amazing songwriter.

What I love is how well that video nailed the place and time. God, Boston in the 80's was bleak. But the music .... ::walks off shaking head, wiping 'dust' from eye::

"Funny" as in "coincidental." I've been a Dumptruck fan from way back, and I don't run into too many people who've even heard of them.

Here's a funny story, though- back in the '90s when Kevin Salem's first record came out, I bought it unheard (used, of course) because I knew he'd been in Dumptruck- but I'd confused him with Kirk Swan. Kevin didn't write at all on the one Dumptruck record he was on. Fortunately though, Kevin Salem's first two solo records are great. I imagine you already know this, but for the uninitiated-

God, Boston in the 80's was bleak.

I wind up working in the Seaport area a few times a year, and I always tell everybody how you wouldn't have wanted to be in that part of town after dark when I was a kid. Now it's all hotels and trendy restaurants.

Never heard of them before, but just read the Wiki article on the band. Another band screwed royally by a record company...

So, I released a side project by a band put together of Dave Spaulding (Barbara Manning, Pell Mell), Shawn King Devlin and Brian Dunton (Dumptruck, Helium, Tacklebox, Flying Nuns, every great fucking band from Boston for a long time), and Mike Leahy (everything from Juliana Hatfield to Tacklebox, was "the" hired gun guitar for a while and also an hilarious and wonderful man). I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that it was recorded and mixed at Fort Apache by those who shall go nameless (but god bless them for doing this favor).

How do I post an mp3 here?

Fuck it, I owe this thread a debt of gratitude: finally set up a SoundCloud account for my old label.

Please feel free to be the first to click and listen. And follow, please. I'm about to do some licensing this summer and need every smidgen of help I can get.
