couldn't pass up the price... looks like the previous owner tried to take off some poly from the neck... doesn't bother me, but probably did not help his trade-in value = good deal

And they traded out the pickups it seems. As long as they sound good.

The tuxedo color scheme is really striking, I did a lot guitar like that once and loved the looks.

I think these are the same probuckers, they just have them presented differently in this model. They have a Filtertron look, but are probuckers.

That's a good thing. I like them, especially after switching out the bridge magnet for Alnico 5. It gave it just the right amount of aggression.

Now that you mention it, when I was looking for a set online, they did sell them also with open covers. I had forgotten about that.
 
That's a great looking guitar. I'm trying to keep down my urges right now to buy anything, but I've been looking at amps more than guitars and I've been unimpressed by the selection in my local shops.
 
The white Custom is my fav Epi Paul. IMO the flash kinda offsets the "oh its an Epiphone" factor. Never seen the black backed model.
I had a standard all white one in the late 90s-early 00s, Korean. Great guitar, played a lot of gigs with it. Pickups could have been better tho.
I should have upgraded the wiring and kept it. But same ol story, it went away in a housecleaning to fund something else.
