I have discovered the joys of Rye Whiskey!

I dropped by the super liquor store during lunch and found a bottle of Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye. At $47 it ain't cheap, so I hope it lives up the the reputation.

Oh, my! This really is something special. Very complex with several great, sweet notes. All night smooth.

I have yet to try an unaged whiskey that I like, but I'll give it a shot if I see it!

In my experience, it's a fun experiment, but it doesn't produce good whiskey.

I've only tried the Barrel Select so far, but that's the one that won them all of the awards.

FWIW, 40 Creek is a blended Canadian.....rye, corn & barley. Not often considered a rye whisky even though many Canadian blends were traditionally called Canadian Rye Whisky, simply because of the rye influence in the blend.
