HNUBD!

Hehe. Surprisingly, I knew right where it was. Class 2 and I have an extra straight.

The 4.3 is a good engine but watch out for bad valve seals. I had a 1995 S10 with a 4.3 and it would puff blue smoke every morning when I first started it. The valve seals were leaking. Fortunately my next door neighbor at the time is a mechanic. He replaced all the seals without removing the heads. But it required a couple of special tools to pressurized the cylinders to keep the valves in place while the valve springs were removed to get to the seals.

And some pics. Not the best pics, since I still can't really work Mrs. P's good camera...even on the auto settings. :embarrassed:

And what you see behind the wheels is mud from our road...not rust. :embarrassed:

That's a fine looking vehicle!

happy new SUV day :thu:

i just picked up a 2003 Escape XLT with 88k on it, like new. i'm getting 19 in town, so you should easily get 20 on the highway.

So far, I've put a dive flag license plate on front, and replaced the gas cap (the gasket was cracked and I was afraid it'd trigger the check engine light). Also got an area rug for the back so the dogs don't completely destroy the carpet.

We've put about 3-400 miles on it now, and no problems yet. :embarrassed:

Looks like we're probably going to be getting somewhere around 19-20 mpg average. Haven't actually done the calculations yet, but I think it's got a 15 gallon tank, and it looks like we'll be able to get about 300 miles out a tank.
