Achtung! Gibson Firebird X Content!!! They finally have them working and WOW are they good.

I wonder if it has to do with the lithium ion batteries in these things. I remember some notebook companies recalling a shit ton of laptops around the block of time Gibson says these are from.

That's plausible. If it's true, though, crushing the guitar is still unnecessary. There are procedures to remove and safely dispose of those batteries.

FYI, two years ago I donated several guitars and amps to the local high school music program. It made me feel good, the music director was over the roof, and I got a nice tax deduction. It was a painless way to thin the herd without having to worry about scammers, shipping, and other hassles. It also made the wife happy when I got rid of that stuff, and made more space in my music room (which is, alas, filling up again - I know, I'm an addict!)

I donated some stuff to a local music store that supports a police department program that provides musical instruments and training for kids. It was a painless way to clear space and to feel I had done something good. I have also donated some guitars to programs where I have worked.

Wait till you see their next video, where they go seal clubbing with gothic SGs.

Could possibly happen. I've never seen a company do a worse job at handling their social media and such than Gibson. It is like they have never even thought for two seconds about consumer opinions and tried to craft messaging to not make themselves look bad. The come up with the most heavy handed, ham fisted, bullshit you could imagine and seem genuinely surprised when it backfires.

harmful??

I mean, what were they putting in those things? And whatever that was could have certainly been removed and replaced with something more conventional...right?
I can understand not wanting to spend more money retrofitting them. But the body could be donated to as a project guitar for someone who wants to replace the electronics.

Other than the electronics (I not really sure how they could be unsafe, but whatever) what could be dangerous about the wood bodies

But then they’d have to provide warranty support when all the gimmicky shit on these guitars starts breaking.

Whatever a reasonable as-is, no warranty price would be, then feed some homeless people.

maybe it was a sort of publicity stunt intended on physically showing that they are moving hard away from henry's bullshit.

You know you really can’t post this topic enough. We need to have it etched in our memories so that we never forget.
