Sort of.

The inner four still participate in holding the trem in place against the latteral string tension. The outer two adjust the angle of the bridge and stopping point of the return action.

I owned it for a couple decades actually, '80s into '90s. Wore it in at least 3 different bands, including the early days of Crash Pad (which began in 1996). Absent-mindedly put a pen in a pocket at one point and got a big ink spot on it, so it was eventually retired; given away or thrown out. It's almost impossible to find denim bike vests with this design nowadays, with the fold-over/snap-down lapels, zippered slash pockets, change pocket, and epaulets. 99% are just regular jean jackets without sleeves. Meh to that.

At any rate, a good Florida alternative to wearing a leather onstage, which I've also done over the years. In north Florida one can get away with that for maybe 3 months a year, but go much further south, and you're inviting heat stroke.
