Can a router go bad?

So, I've had internet connectivity issues for awhile. Checked 3 laptops, all the same, figured it's not the laptops. Plugged the internet cable straight into he main laptop-no problem. Router seems to be the weak link. Any suggestions?

I'm amazed to have troubleshot this.

Sure, any electronic gizmo can go bad. Sounds like you have already solved this, and the good news is routers are relatively cheap.

No way! Unpossible!

When mine went wonky, I had comcast ship me a new router, and when I called to set it up they told me it was obsolete and sent me a newerer one

While with Verizon I went through several. Would last a couple years and I would need another.

I see dlinks and netgear routers hanging out at the pool hall and smoking cigs on the corner of 5th street all the time so yea, they can go bad.

I blame it on parenting.
