Brent Hinds (Mastodon) and EVH should work together

There was a guy at HC that would post himself covering Mastodon songs. For the life of me I can't find them now on youtube, but they were pretty killer. I actually liked watching him play the stuff. But just sitting down and listening to a Mastodon album always leaves me a bit meh.

I kinda like this video, but it's not the same guy (guy on HC had black hair, a beard, and was from Europe if I remember rightly).

To be fair, just Flamencology's opinion on metal is worth that much :embarrassed:

If I was looking for advice on jazz, like which Kenny G album is best, or how much more influential that Chuck Mangione was compared to Miles Davis, then Flamencology would be the first person I'd ask :)

FWIW, I've seen Mastodon twice. The first time was in 2008, they were supporting Neurosis. It was a terrific show, as far as post-Sabbath metal goes. (Which, really, isn't that far)

See, I should like Mastodon, but for some reason they just don't click with me.

Now, there's a Canadian band out of Vancouver called Anciients that sounds a lot like Mastodon, but have just a bit of Opeth and other stuff going on as well, and I love them (1 album, so far. 2nd coming out later this year).

Just goes to show you that certain music/bands just aren't for everyone :embarrassed:

Anciients rules! Vastly superior to Mastodon, though possessing a similar style.

Stoner Metal Supreme!

I've seen them a couple of times also, but the Mastodon's shows were better.

For the most part, their albums are, to me, practically unlistenable due to cringe-worthy recording/production.
