Brent Hinds (Mastodon) and EVH should work together

Sounds like Brent Hinds has a bit of EVH disease.

"I never really liked heavy metal in the first place,"

"I've been trying to get MASTODON to not be such a heavy metal band, because I fucking hate heavy metal, and I don't want to be in a heavy metal band."

"I don't like doing interviews, I don't read interviews, I don't need to know how people go about doing things. It frustrates me to do interviews, because I have to talk about things I've talked about over and over and over and over again. So, no, there's nothing that we can talk about that involved MASTODON that I'll get excited about. After 15 years of doing this every fucking day of my life, the last thing I want to do is talk about doing it."

I've got an idea, how about if we stop buying fucking Mastodon albums, then you won't be in a heavy metal band anymore? (I've never cared for them anyways, myself.)

When I saw them with Opeth a couple of years ago, everyone around me was cheering and yelling their heads off when Mastodon took the stage. At the end of their set, everyone around me were on their phones texting and face booking. I wasn't the only one that found them extremely boring, it seems :embarrassed:

Hinds should quit Mastodon—he should be able to make as much money as a Nashville session player as he does trying to take a sludge metal band mainstream. And Mastodon would probably sound better without Hind’s godawful vocals (at times he literally sounds like cat puking) and occasional bluegrass breakdowns.

If you don't like it, you should probably leave.

Seems more sensical than trying to change what you are already in with a crew that does enjoy playing metal.

Less shoveling shit against the tide that way.

I definitely admire him for his vehement denouncement of what is inarguably one of the worst musical genres ever. Ever.

Did they leave when Opeth started? :poke:

yet he continuies to do interviews and keeps playing in Mastodon...

Me thinks he is trolling

Actually, Opeth opened that night, playing all their mellow stuff + Demons Of The Fall and The Grand Conjuration.

The crowd loved them. I got the feeling that most people were there to see Opeth :embarrassed:

Nothing Mastodon does is meant to be taken seriously

Check out this shirt they did at thanksgiving

Or the video for motherload when these twerking chicks showed up after the first minute

If you want to know just how much your opinions matter to some of us, just stick your hand in a bucket of water and then pull it back out again.

Measure the hole left behind.

Of course, it's probably a generous over estimate

To be fair, just Flamencology's opinion on metal is worth that much :embarrassed:

If I was looking for advice on jazz, like which Kenny G album is best, or how much more influential that Chuck Mangione was compared to Miles Davis, then Flamencology would be the first person I'd ask :)
