Baby bunny trapped in the window well jam

Bunny numbers are escalating in my neighborhood. The coyotes, hawks, and mountain lions don’t come here so there’s nothing to get the population down. I have no idea what they’re eating.
Down here it's the same way. We do have a hawk in the air every day,but it doesn't help.
I haven't seen a coyote in 2 years. There are a few on Green Mountain, but they don't range the 4 blocks to my neighborhood.
These guys do show up ever few days though.

I've not seen any rabbits here, but I've seen plenty of hedgehogs and a very large fox. I assume the fox is related to the lack of rabbits. Oddly, my neighbors are very envious of my garden hedgehogs, as they are something one wants here. They call them Igel (pronounced like eagle), and they are supposed to be good luck or something.

Those are brush or desert rabbits. I think you mostly find them pretty close to the mountains - the only places I've seen them are places like Rancho San Antonio - never in the flats.

Well it's pretty flat here. But the hills aren't that far away, I'm less than five crow miles from Rancho San Antonio. I suspect they have been moving in since there aren't a lot of predators compared to the hills. And lots of vegetable gardens/lawns to graze on. And probably people leaving food for them because they are cute. There are dozens near the public park that is up the street from us, not quite as numerous as ground squirrels but you can count on seeing one or 2 in the morning almost daily. Fremont Older is closer

I've been wondering for three days now what the fuck a "window well" is supposed to be and how the hell a baby rabbit jumped up to a window sill then magically fell into something too deep to climb out of. Finally had to google it.

Damn yankees with your rabbit-trappin' windows, I tell you what!

Basements with windows, windows are below ground. Ground is dug out. Corrugated metal usually.

I'm not feeling too warm and fuzzy about wild rabbits and gophers right now. They are taking over mine and my neighbors yards . I suppose I can catch and release some bunnies. All the home depot gopher traps are deadly. Poison is not an option either. Hawks and other creatures die from eating the poisoned rodents

Well? I hope this has a happy ending, my Monday can't handle this shit.

FYI carrots are like candy to rabbits, you may have given it the beetus.

We had a skunk fall in our window well when I lived in Aurora. Called animal control. They said, "It'll figure it out. I'm not getting sprayed"
Thanks a lot jerks!
Oh, and it did figure it out. It climbed (and destroyed) the screen on the window.

He came out in a landing net. A landing net you may recall from fishing in the Atomic Barnacle. I put lettuce in the net and he hopped in. It was uneventful.

I posted that on the first page, but I'll give you a pass on sleep deprivation.
