Anybody used one of these, thoughts?

Seems like a lot of features packed into an inexpensive unit. That would have me concerned about overall quality. Still, it might be a good starting point, since it does have so many features, it could still be useful when you outgrow it and upgrade. I would pick a DAW though, and start learning the ins and outs of recording with a computer. 8 inputs isn't a lot when you're recording full band stuff, and I think you'll probably outgrow this unit in short time. Learning something like Reaper or Logic will give you some options when you go to upgrade.
 
Maybe. Son has the Boss version. Bro in law has the Tascam version. Neither is a good substitute for a computer, interface, and DAW. Once you outgrow them, the only good thing about them is they are portable. SOME people never outgrow them. Some people are just not computer guys.
