All about the J

Lee Anderton hosts Nathan King to talk about the differences between Indonesian Squier, Mexican and American Jazz basses.

Spoiler: Nathan declines to note any interesting differences, and he's a bass player.

I've owned a pile of basses in the last 3 decades including Squier, MIM, MIJ and American Standard basses. I can feel/hear a difference between them all, but I'd be happy to go out and gig with a stock Squier Standard.

The Squier P-Bass is an awesome instrument. It feels cheap, and it sounds kind of cheap, but unlike cheap guitars, that just makes it more fun to play. Detune one till the strings clatter on the frets and play Master of Reality. It’s so much fun! I can look at better instruments and understand why they’re better. But the Squier P-bass is so fun I don’t care much about better instruments.
