Acoustic GAS has set in.

Monkey With Tools
Hey there guys! Long time no see. After a pretty long break from here and guitars in general i've been GASing for an acoustic here lately. With my tax refund coming in a week or two, I went looking around for something around $350-$500 and it seems the general consensus was Seagull. While in city a couple hours away I stopped at a store and played a couple and they seemed pretty nice. Unfortunately they only had a couple models, one a little more pricey and their most budget base model whose looks didn't really appeal to me. Visited Sweetwater and a couple caught my eye: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/S6MD

Yeah, this is probably gonna happen soon.

Cool! I never connected with the cedar Seagulls. But I tried an all mahogany Larrivee EDIT: No wait, it was a Martin. The local store sold both) I really liked the sound of, and that Seagull looks similar. It would be nice if you could try one in the store, but I guess Sweetwater has a good return policy if you don't like the first one you get. Happy shopping!

Interesting. Sweetwater lets you look at the specific units they have by serial number. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/S6MD
They have 4 of those. I personally like the look of the top of:
Serial: 038916001654 (stripey grain looks cool) and
Serial: 038916001641 (also nice grain character).

The one you have listed is nice looking too, just less variety in the grain for my taste. It is a little lighter as well according to the ad.

I've had a couple of cedar topped acoustics, and three of them were Seagull/Simon & Patrick. Great tone, but the softer wood and satin finish requires some extra care.

I actually prefer cedar topped acoustics. Seagulls are generally very good guitars for the money. Their more upper end instruments are very nice as well.

Yeah, that is totally just a matter of taste. For whatever reason, they didn't connect with me personally. Didn't activate my lower chakra as much as the all mahogany, or a rosewood/spruce, . . . or something.
