Well, considering the fact that Kauers are pretty much variations of designs by Fender and Gibson I can't what harm it would do...

So I've been loving my Balaguer Growler since I got it. I even ordered a 2nd build from Balaguer.

Over the past few months, I've grown a relationship with Joe Balaguer via messenger and text. I've been talking to him about a few different builds.

I just realized that he can do a semi-hollow growler for me. Here's the thing... when I found out that he could do this I remembered a Daylighter that I had seen once before. I attached a pic to this thread.

I was thinking of having joe build me a similar one. I could never afford a kauer and this would cost me almost 2.5 to 3 times less.

Would it be lame to take some of the aesthetics of this guitar and make a Balaguer?

I agree with @mikesr1963 .

You flip a lot of guitars. If you want a Kauer, get a Kauer. Otherwise, you won't be happy with it. No matter what. JM2CW.

I dont want a kauer... tbh(no offense). I'm really digging the Balaguer's. I can order a guitar with the specs I want without breaking the bank.

Yeah, resale value should definitely be a consideration here. It sounds like a new/different market for John, and it's not the same as trying to flip a PRS or any other household (by casual guitarists) name.

John....stop it right there and now.

A custom guitar just doesn't work like a Gibby or PRS, you can't just flip it after a few days. And you really need to get yourself together.

Why do you need it? What are you going to use it for? And do you know it's near impossible getting a good deal for someone else's custom guitar?

I'm trying to be nice here, but...ffs man. Make sure this is something you really need, and only then order it.

We make fun of you with guitars and Chad with pedals...and that's because we hate to see you waste money on something you don't need.

As much as I like congratulating a forumite on a new guitar, is that what you really need?

Think about it.

I don't need any new guitars. But I see what you are saying.

Don't take it the wrong way John. Main thing, is...maybe you could try to start avoid buying things you know you'll regret.
Intention is well.

Maybe focus your energy on writing? New songs? A new band or something like that?
You're a good player sat at home spending too much time at reverb.

Do something with your talent, mate.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, having three kids(2 being twins) leaves little time to do much of anything right now. But I am looking for people to play with. Been too long

Seriously, keep looking. And if all else...write songs and people like myself, Mark, Mike, Greg and other people can help finish things. You just have to ask.
It really is that simple. Don't make excuses. You're a damn good guitar player that should be playing more than shopping for deals. Imo, of course.

Hey now, I buy all my pedals used or on a heavy sale. I would wager than 95% of the time I have sold a pedal, it has been for more than what I paid and more than covers the selling fee on Reverb.

Wait, WTF did I just miss?

Was this "hey I like this Kauer, can you (not Kauer) make this for me please?". Please tell me that's not what I'm reading here.

I was thinking of having a builder make me a guitar based on a color scheme of one of your daylighters
