4th of July cookout jam

2manband

Kick Henry Jackassowski
Were having 2parents, 1sister and 1brother in law over for a BBQ tomorrrow. Appetizer course is salmon and smoked sausages at noon, then innertubing down a lazy river until the main course finishes about 4 or 5, then ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread. And apple pie. And a cake because it's my parents' birthday on 7/8. They have the same birthday, which is convenient.

I have to get up at 4am to start the smoker, which is decidedly inconvenient

Brisket flat and pork shoulder went on at 4AM. Ribs went on at 8, sausages and salmon at 10. Lunch is sausages and salmon at noon, main course is at 4 or 5.

I declare independence from hunger

No grilling here, Ms. Dmn and I are getting out of town for a night and heading up to Taos in a couple of hours. Los Lobos are playing a free show, plus there's fireworks, nice weather, etc. I bet I can even find some BBQ too.

is that at the ski resort NE of town or in Taos proper?

i went crazy at the store and bought a jumbo package of Hebrew National hot dogs (it's Costco size) and got fixings to make Chicago, Carolina, New York, Dodger dog (minus the long weiner :embarrassed: and I will be doing the ketchup on it too). I will most likely experiment with others as well. I should be completley dogged out in a few days

No, Kit Carson Park is right smack in the middle of town and it's used all the time for concerts and stuff. It's a sweet little spot and we've seen a bunch of shows there (including Los Lobos three years ago). Driving all the way up to the base of the ski area would be a gigantic untenable clusterfuck and there's no room anyway.

The last show we attended in Taos was Sting:

Imagine being a top class session drummer but having to try and replicate Copeland

I'll throw in a vote for Columbian style if you're looking for other delicious delicious styles off that list
