This Saturday I was in Brooklyn to catch Peter Hook and the Light. They played a solid 2.5 hours. First set 1 hour (did all of the New Order album Get Ready, which to me was not the main draw), took about a 12-15 minute break and then played 1.5 hours from the Joy Division and New Order catalog. He had another bass player on stage I guess to free him up to sing and not think about playing and singing at the same time. Good show. At the end of the show he took his shirt off (it was the same as one of the concert designs they were selling) and handed it to someone in the audience.
Next up for me (as far as I know) is Sugar at Union Transfer in Philly.

Man, I've been wanting to see Sturgill for a while now, just haven't had the scheduling line up in my favor. Based on all the clips I seen/heard, he's killer.

This weekend was the AC/DC and Pretty Reckless show at Notre Dame!
Taylor and the band sounded great. She said they were filming a video so I’m going to watch for this ND Jersey she was wearing.
I’ve seen Angus and the guys multiple times in their hey day… there were some clams and Brian’s voice was pretty ragged as the show went on, but mad respect for them still doing this in their 70’s!

That was my third time seeing him. That whole band is just fearsome. Sturgill is a great player in his own right, but Laur Joamets is something else. And they weave together as well as anyone I've ever seen.

Samantha Fish randomly announced a tour this morning and she’s playing in town. I bought tickets without even look at the date—it’s next Friday. My husband will be out of town so I’ll have to convince The Boy to come.
Speaking of The Boy, I bought meet-and-greet VIP passes for Wargasm next month. VIPs get some special merch, including an enameled lighter and matching cigarette case. I’m going to take them away until he graduates high school because otherwise I’m going to get a very angry phone call from a principal.

And we brought 8 packs of Montreal smoked meat and 2 dozen bagels home. LOL.

I bought tickets to Rush in Chicago and Tampa about a year ago. Already went to the Chicago show. I’m looking forward to the Tampa show in November. A few weeks ago they announced the date in St. Louis. I think I’m gonna skipthe StL show.
I’ve caught Rush several times twice on the same tour, but never three times. Maybe they’ll tour again in a few years.

Stevie Wonder doing a 50th Anniversary of Songs int he Key of Life tour. Tickets going on sale tomorrow, gonna snag a pair me thinks.
Saw him in MD in 2024 and he was great. Wasn't expecting another tour so soon(ish), but he just dropped the dates yesterday. Gonna hit Cap 1 Arena.

Total fail...was 17K+ in the queue, sold out well before I got in.
Strange that his 2024 tour was accessible at a smaller venue (CFG Arena in Baltimore), but DC sold out immediately. The tickets seemed to have a range of $200 - 700 and the "cheap seats" would have been a stretch for my usual budget. That said, it's Stevie Fucking Wonder. I'd've gone in the $250 range per ticket if I had the option. Maybe he'll add more dates?

Very eager for the Avetts 2-fer at Wolf Trap next weekend.
The only thing officially on the books after that is Rush on 10/27 at Cap 1 in DC. Tryna get a ticket for 10/25 too, but we'll see.
The Robert Cray Band is at the Birchmere this Tuesday, while Steve Winwood and John Fogerty are co-headlining at Wolf Trap...hmmm...

I took The Boy to Samantha Fish on Friday night. It was my fourth time seeing her. We didn’t get there until 8:30 because the last three times I saw her the opening act was terrible. This time it was the Zac Schulze gang and they were great, see them if they pop up in your town. Samantha killed it, as always. But we had to leave early because The Boy was tired. Next time I take him to a show I’m making him nap first and chug a Mountain Dew on the way.

Wasn't able to go to Robert Cray Band, but the Avetts shows were excellent.
I've been a moderate Guster fan for some time, but this is the first time we got to see them live. Both nights they were top notch. Ryan Miller has a killer voice, just great. They were like a combination of Barenaked Ladies and Dispatch. Ryan played various acoustics and electrics. Adam the same, with bass duty added in. Brian is a great and fun percussionist, playing barehanded most of the night, getting behind a regular kit from time to time.
The Avetts were fabulous as always. Finally heard Pretty Girl from Baltimore, despite 14 of the 16 times we've seen them being in the DMV and even one of those being in UMBC (in flippin' Baltimore!?!). On N1 they did a tip of the hat to Fogerty who was there on Tuesday by playing Centerfield. N2's opening encore was a tribute to Dolores O'Riordan, with the band doing their cover of the Cranberries Linger, and it was just great to hear live. They always pull out some special covers when they do multiple nights.
We've got tix for Come From Away at the Ford's Theater next and then I've got Rush on 10/27. Hoping to get a few more shows in before the year's out. Hamilton is coming back to DC, so we're looking to hit that as well.
There's always more shows than we can get to in general, but scheduling seems to get in the way for more than I'd like.
