Gibson pickup prices have gone off the deep end.

Gibson launched a new line of historic reissue pickups. There are 1957, 1958, and 1959 PAF models. Two pickups are $800. Duncan ’59s (sets) are $200. Wolfetones are $280. Duncan Antiquities are $320. Lollar Imperials are $400. These crazy motherfuckers at Gibson actually made Lollar’s flagship model look cheap. Fucking bonkers.

Sheptone has gotten crazy with his prices over the last couple of years. Wolfetones are much better. And Throbacks have always been crazy expensive. Neither the Throbacks nor the Sheptones are any better than Wolfetones. It's crazy. FWIW, I put a cheap $15 Alnico 2 pickup from Amazon in my Hello Kitty Strat. It sounds awesome. Cheap pickups are getting better and better.

I bought these on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/FLEOR-Electric-Guitar-Bridge-Pickups/dp/B074DJSXPR/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis?th=1 as a place holder till I could afford better in the purple Tele. Got em and thought, you get what you pay for. I read everywhere that P 90s should be closer to the strings than normal pickups and put them in accordingly. Son likes his action high. I added wood to the bottom of the pickup cavities because, the pickups were so wonky. I got a new nut put on. Me to tech- I want the string height at the first fret about half of what the string height is right now at the 21st frett. Tech to me- For slide? Me- No, son likes high action...., I'm hoping I can lower the saddles so I can lower the pickups so, they won't be so wonky. That all sorted out, was going to change the pots and maybe the cap to tame the brightness. Somewhere while looking at pot and cap values, I read that scale length has an effect on brightness. Never knew that, I thought Strat, Tele pickups are just brighter than humbuckers. I lowered the P90s. It's crazy how good it sounds now.
