We don’t get any trick or treaters where I live because it’s too far to walk between houses. When we first moved in, I was prepared with candy, thinking parents would drive their kids around the neighborhood. Nope. In 25 years, nobody has ever come to the door on Halloween. Instead, they drive their children to trunk ‘r treat, or a more densely populated neighborhood.
The pic I posted is at a friend’s house in his neighborhood. We have a small group of Dad’s who all got to know each other back in the days our sons were in Boy Scouts. We meet up at the same Dad’s home on Halloween each year.
What we noticed at his home this Halloween was, the parents and kids came around much later this year, because it was not a school night. I don’t know how many came by because I got distracted helping cook burgers and brats as well as drinking beer and booze. I was never on candy duty.
A few of the Dad’s and Mom’s from the neighborhood came by after making the rounds with their kids. As far as I know, it was a success. If it wasn’t, I was too smashed to notice.
