GPOTD GPOTD 7.5.17

I remember seeing one of those EKOs back in the first column (in the early 80s) that Teisco Del Rey (Dan Forte) did on oddball guitars for Guitar Player Magazine. According to him, they're great sounding for clean sounds, but the pickups are horribly microphonic if you crank things up for some dirt. In other words, nice for surf guitar (which is probably what they were originally intended for), and that's it. Buy it of you want to let your inner Los Straightjackets run free.

The body BTW, is made out of plastic. Nah, I think I'll pass on this one.

Offset, no.
Stupid looking pups,no.
Switches all up in it,no.
Wiggly stick,no.
Tort,no.

I just hate everything about that guitar.

That may be fun....

Pawnshop special so pull out the slide.

And finally, beat up guitar some so it looks like it was used!

I seem to remember picking one of those up many years ago and being shocked at how much it weighed.

It would be fun if you did a lot of early 60s covers.

For me it would depend on what kind of weirdo sounds you could get from it. And then I'd need some material to play that would require said weirdo sounds.
