I've never traveled with a guitar except for when I was touring. If I was out of town and wanted to play, I'd just go to a local music store. I'm also fine just playing unplugged but if for some reason, I needed to have sound, I'd just plug into my phone, it has garageband on it even though I've never used it.

I'd just take an acoustic. My electrics have never left the house unless we are moving.

I take a Washburn Rover acoustic travel guitar. It has a full scale length and a small body. It has a piezo pickup that I've never used.
It serves its purpose well.

cool story bros

My Blackstar Fly has a headphone jack. It's not the best , but it works. I think those Laney Lionheart mini amps with the app are amazing.

I used to use an IK Media iRig and my iPad.

Works great.

My goofy MiniStar LesStar fit diagonally in my medium sized suitcase.

I happen to have an ipad just hanging around that I don't use. That's an interesting idea.

So I say garageband on my iphone and get a snarky comment, he says iRig on an iPad and he gets 'an interesting idea.' Ok bro.

I said I never have used it, doesn't anybody read?

iRig makes an interface for iPhones. I guess I would get that, if I wanted to use it.

you have the one w/ the TTRS out or USB? the HD/USB one can serve as a PC interface and includes desktop amplitube. That's tempting for 100 bucks

I have two. I’d honestly have to go look to see what I have. My basement is in turmoil right now (running CAT6).

One is the original. One is the HD, I think. The HD has options for connectors.

I have a Vox AC30 AmPlug 2 headphone practice amp. Sounds good through a set of AKG earbuds that came with my work Samsung Galaxy S8. Sounds fantastic through my Sennheiser full size headphones.

I've got an old Behringer V-Amp. It sounds pretty good through headphones. It's pretty impressive considering that it is from the dawn of digital modelling.

I wouldn’t call the V-amp small, and you’ve got the whole wall-wart thing, so it’s a less than ideal travel partner, I’d say.
