Which Guitar Is The Most Versatile?

Obviously, I'm short on experience, but . . . this one. :embarrassed:

Does everything but bridge single coil, which i'm not thrilled with anyway.

Probably an HsH superstrat with a floyd rose type tremolo for conventional instrument.

If we explore less conventional options, a steinberger GL7TA with active Haz labs preamp and transtrem. The guitar itself is sonically flat, and with the EQ and EMG 89 dual mode pickups (and the middle S pickup), you can make it sound like damn near anything. That was a selling point back in the day, especially for studio people.

If we go even less conventional, a MIDI or VG8 style pickup guitar with a good rack.

Mid 80's MIJ Fender Contemporary Telecaster.

If you can get past this guy being somewhat of a nutball, this is a great video that proves my point.

I love teles. I don't find them to be the most versatile guitars though.

I'd have to agree that an HSS strat would be it if you wanted one ax to cover the most ground - especially if it had a splittable humbucker in the bridge.

mostly i find that my strat (sss) is the most versatile.....i love my les paul, and it does some great stuff......but the clean and semi dirty sounds work best with the strat.

My USA Tele w/ the humbucker in the neck position covers a lot of ground.

Of my guitars I'd go with my Patrick Eggle. 2 humbuckers , coil tappable with a push pull tone pot. 6 pickup settings before touching the volume and tone pots which add a whole lot more.

The one in the hands of the most versatile player. Really, a great player can do just about anything on any good guitar. I can do just about any style on my Reverend Flatroc, and I am far from a good player. The bass rolloff does help it cover more tonal territory. Rolled off it can cover some good funk and/or country tones.

For me it ends up being a strat with a humbucker in the bridge.

They look like this! Class 0f 04, with S-1 switching.

Mine has a pair of Texas Specials for the single coils and the bridge 'bucker is splittable and combineable with the other two pups. No it is not for sale.

The most versatile one I have is my Strat build with Dimarzio Tone Zone S in the bridge, Chopper in the middle and Fast Track 1 in the neck! I find I can get any sound I am after out of it. If not it I would go with an HSS Strat like others have said.

Versatile?
Tape a bottle opener on the headstock and you've got a truly versatile guitar.

I'd say the most versatile is probably a Super-Strat with a Floyd Rose trem on it.

H-S-S or H-S-H setup.

It will cover mostly everything, I should think.

I think I'll go with the strat with the humbucker in bridge. I do know of the guitars I actually own, the strat -- with traditional single coil pickups -- is the most versatile, and its shortcomings would pretty much be solved by a humbucker.
