What guitar would you 16 year old self want?

I saw a similar thread on the gear page and I thought it would be fun to do here. It's simple... What guitar(s) were you gassing for at age 16?

And what are you gassing for now?

Me - age 16 - I was playing a use gamer centaura. I didn't realize how great of a guitar it was but I always dreamed of getting a fender American strat in sunburst with maple board.

Now - age 37 - pretty much anything but a strat. Hahaha. Not really gassing for much these days

What about you?

I always wanted a Les Paul back then.

My parents offered to buy me one as a high school graduation gift, and I chose a PRS instead.

I finally bought a Les Paul when I was 33.

I wanted a CHarvel or Jackson. I ended up with the Tokai, which was the ultimate win. I DID end up with a Charvel Model 2 for a couple of years but it never sounded as good as the Tokai so I ended up trading it for a parts guitar that I then traded to @El Borrachito for my first Les Paul.

I used to go to Rosso's Music in Curtis Bay and look at the Gibson J45 and wish I could afford it. It is still on my list, though I know I'd never spend the money on it, and the current crop probably arent as good as the ones made in 1966-67.

At 16 it was a LP. Then I thought my folks had bought me a Strat for Christmas, because I spied a Fender box in the garage. Now, even back then, a genuine MIA Fender (the only kind at the time :embarrassed: ) was still rather pricey for my folks, yet I thought maybe there was a way. It was hard to cover up my disappointment to find a Global in the box when I opened it , yet I still appreciated it and played the shit out of it...

At 18, it was all about the single-pickup Floyd-equipped _________ :embarrassed:.

This is a weird question for me. My number one now at age 51 is the same guitar that I was playing when I was 16.

That guitar is my black strat. Bought it new and still love it to death. It is still the only thing that my wife has ever been jealous of.

For 37 years now that strat has been by my side and never failed me.

I wasn't playing at 16, but when I was a young-un, I wanted a Charvel or Jackson. In '91 I got my USA Jackson.

I have a nice collection now, so I'd say the only thing I'd really be gassing for is a gold-logo Charvel.

At 16, I had an MIM strat and my dream was probably an MIA Strat. Now I've got an MIA Tele and it's been my main guitar since I bought it, 15 years ago. I might get some other guitars, but I'll never get rid of it. Just did some overdubs with it yesterday, and besides sounding great, it's an absolute pleasure to play and a beauty.

LP. Because, Duane Allman, Paige, et al.

Nowadays. IDK. I like just about everything. Still looking for that perfect tele I guess.

Ric 620 in midnight blue. Used to stare at the picture in a catalogue for hours. Finally got one recently.

I wanted a strat, don't ask me why. It took me decades to realize that I just don't like playing Fender guitars.

When I was 16 I would have wanted a Kramer "Frankenstrat". Around 1984 I remember seeing the EVH replica guitars and I think they were made by Kramer? Or was it Charvel? Around that same time or shortly after I wanted the Jackson Randy Rhoads "Concorde" guitar.

At 16 I was into Strats and Teles. At 35 I still am. LOL
