I need another Floyd-equipped axe as a backup for my new band. I'm digging this--has what I need and not too spendy. What say?

Black pickguard and I like it a lot.

Edit:
I remember reading some complaints about the Floyd Special trem. I have no direct experience with it however.
I've been gassing for an Ibanez RG series with an Edge Tremolo. They might not be a bad choice either...

Hmmm... I'll have to check on the trem reviews.
I had an original Edge trem installed on an MIJ Squier superstrat in the late '80s. It was phenomenal. Not sure about the Ibby necks, though--I don't like the wide, flat thing.
Also, my next guitar HAS to be green. Another possibility: Slime Green Charvel San Dimas (more $$ though).

I have a buddy that has this model in white. He loves it.

Edit: Really digging the Lime Charvel. That's a superior guitar.

If it's primarily for backup, and price is a consideration, have you looked at the Schecter Banshees?

It is not my kind of guitar, but it looks cool.
The price isn't bad either.
Dooo Eeeet!.

I have an Edge III(?) trem on my 7 string....it's good, really good. I also installed a Tremol-No system which is pretty killer. I routed a rectangular opening in the trem cover so you can switch settings on the fly.

I would go this route.

I've got a couple Floyd Rose Specials and I have no complaints about them. I've also got a few real Floyd Roses, a Gotoh 1996T, and the stock trem on my Peavey Wolfgang. They all hold up nicely.

A couple of months ago I was considering doing a Charvel style build. When I was trying to price out a Floyd I ran across some negative reviews. I suppose no matter what the product there are always both positive and negative reviews. They are considerably cheaper than an original.
Good to know that you haven't had any issues with yours.

The only real difference is that the saddles are made of zinc rather than steel, so the tone's a bit different. I have one of these on my Ernie Ball Sterling SUB AX4 with an aftermarket brass block and the thing sustains forever and takes a beating.

I thought about those, but I'm not a fan of the headstock or the inlays. Plus, I gotta have a maple board.
Also must haz green!
