Listen to this - Well, here's a demo..

This is just me messing around with my new-ish Gretsch, making myself acquainted with the guitar. I'd like to use it for recording guitar instrumentals.

Wow! That was fantastic! Beautifully constructed composition, lovely playing and touch, and that tone was just spot-on. I'm really loving the sound of that Gretsch, it's just perfect for that tune; such a clear, full-bodied twang. You must be very happy with it, right? it's exactly right for rockabilly and retro instro stuff.

Listening again, those Dynasonics sound so, so good. I don't know about you, but can you hear the 'air' in the hollowbody? I know Jim Lill would catch me out in a blind test and prove 'you can't hear a difference', but damnit! I think I do hear a difference!

Thanks! There are some takes and phrasings here and there that need polishing, but I'm very happy with the guitar overall. Let's just say there's a learning curve!

I've tried a bunch of newer and older low/mid-priced Gretsch guitars, and to me the Dynasonics are in a completely different league than the stock 'trons in an Electromatic. The Dynas are also very dynamic and touch-sensitive. I brought the guitar to rehearsal with the singer-songwriter folks I sidekick for occasionally, just the guitar, a tuner pedal, and the Champ. Cool thing is you can control the volume simply by the way you pick, or fingerpick, going from barely audible to loud enough for leads, or flip the pick (Dunlop 1mm) for extra grit / faux breakup, no need for the volume knob or a booster pedal.

It's funny with the hollowbody thing, isn't it? I mean I swear this ride has got sheepskin seats, while the science types probably say I'm deluding myself and only really hear what I want to hear. I dunno, I just dig the sound.

Great tune, cool arrangement, and the guitar sounds good. I'm getting a little "amp simulator" vibe from the tone, but I'm listening on a phone.

that sounds so great! really dig the tune and the tone! what are the slapback settings? i can never get it dialed in quite right...

Thanks! I'm using a stereo plugin in sync (DAW set to 4/4). On the left I use 1/8 for the left side and 1/16 for the right/middle, and then the other way around on the right, so you get the shorter ones in the middle just to fatten things up a bit and the longer ones thrown out in the sides. The lead parts are panned about 1/3 and the rhythm parts about 2/3.

For live stuff I sometimes use a DD-3, and try to make it do just one repeat, but I should think your Space Echo pedals are even better suited for that kind of thing?
