Weekend Wrapup

It’s been a crazy week. Thursday one of my ensembles played at the South coast Plaza Christmas tree lighting. Four months of prep for 40 minutes worth of music (and singing and dancing) in front of several thousand people. And there was a drone show run off of our computers timecode.

Friday was largely recovery day, Saturday and Sunday were work days with a gig last night.

Saturday I did a bit of nothing, then took the dog to the woods and watched him having a blast in the snow. Then I did some DAWing, re-recorded a few guitar parts and added finishing touches to a new track:

Went to the local Christmas fair with the missus and some friends. Went home, had tea and had fun messing around with my new Vibro Champ.

Great weather for golf. Cooked chicken tinga! It was delicious, Smurfco’s late evil stepfather would have been proud. Played guitar but not as much as I should have.

Also had a New Mac Day last week, so I finished getting it set up. All the photos and music took hours to copy over. Once I was able to fire up Lightroom I got the pics from our Cabo trip organized. There wasn’t much processing to do since they were phone pics, not raw files from the DSLR.

This guy reminded me of @baimun and his Halloween antics. Too bad I cut his fingers off.

Played my final gig with the Def Leppard tribute on Sat. It was a fun show. The original drummer and bass player came up to do a couple songs. And some dude brought a three-humbucker, black Ibanez Destroyer for me to play (I used it on Rock of Ages). I'll miss playing with those guys a lot, but I'm just done with gigging.
The rest of the weekend was spent doing yardwork and napping.

Nutso week last week with a 4-day conference wherein I delivered a half-day training session and did an hour-long speaking session jammed in between all-day booth duty and evening “festivities”.
So, the weekend was a bit chill. More than usual.
We did get out to do some shopping for decor-type stuff for the TV room.
We found an end table that we both liked and got it annd a couple of other things. Upon placing the table in the room, Mrs DCF decided that we should have gotten a second one.

So, I drove and I wasn’t even going to go in the store. It’s a lightweight table. Mrs DCF talked me into going in as the second unit that we saw was up on a high shelf. So, in I go.
My only criteria: “We’re going in. We’re getting the table and we’re leaving.”

On the way in, a customer offered us her “Friends and Family” coupon. 20% off everything. Even stuff already marked down.
Yay…
10-dollar candy was 7 dollars. Still didn’t buy it, but I can confirm that it is normally 10 dollars.

Sooooo. Shopping ensues.
Artwork. Pillows. Said end table. Stocking stuffers.

Picked up Chinese food on the way home.

“Oh! Hey! Their sister store has clothes and stuff and the coupon works there, too. We should go there.”

Ate dinner.

Went to said store to find the entire mall was locked down by firefighters and everyone was evacuated.

“Let’s go to the other store across town!”

Hit every green light and had open lanes on the highway. It was meant to be…. Except that store was closed, not doing the holiday hours thing.
Nice drive though.

So, back to the other mall. Things opened up shortly after. Did some shopping. Holiday gifts for the kids is done.
This is where I confirmed the 10-dollar candy was normally 10 dollars as they had not marked down the last 2 jars.

I really wanted the “Raised By Elves” ugly Christmas sweater, but I don’t really wear sweaters.

Had a "little christmas" get together with friends on Friday. It's a tradition here to have some kinda get together end of November/early December with different friend groups, colleagues and whatnot. Usually some food and heavy drinking (because Finland :embarrassed: ). It was fun, I kept it quite civilised as I just got over a pretty bad sinus infection.

Had a gig on Saturday, took Kiira along for the soundcheck. The gig was a blast, left the afterparty when it started looking like it was going to get out of hand :embarrassed:

Sunday we took Kiira to the dogpark to meet her boyfriend, they went absolutely nuts in the snow, good times.

Monday is also weekend for me nowadays, the company I work for went to 4 day workweek. So yesterday I took Kiira for a mission to buy myself some new wintershoes, drop the car at the shop for some maintenance and a nice walk through the forest next to the repair shop.
