Vista Music (Heritage and Harmony buys Manny's Music from Sam Ash

It will be interesting to see if they keep it open on 48th street or move it somewhere else, or just make it an online competitor to MF, Sweetwater, etc.

Got my first really good guitar at Manny's...Ibanez Proline 1440, just like this one:

My friends and I would take trips to 48th Street a coupla of times a year into our early 20s. Always a cool time. Rudy's, We Buy Guitars, the ESP shop that opened a bit later...terrible sales folks as a general rule, ALL of the stereotypes.

It would be very cool if they reopened Manny's.

We used to do the same thing and head up to NYC from Philadelphia a couple times a year just to hit all the shops. Once a friend really wanted to try & ultimately buy a Ric they had but some guy who was tight w/ the shop was sitting there right in front of it, noodling away and chatting with the shop guys; it was pretty clearly a do not disturb situation. We had to leave and come back it went on for so long. The shop guy was initially reluctant to let my friend play it if he wasn't seriously going to buy it. It all worked out in the end but probably was one of the most tedious buying experience I've been part of.
