VH v Maiden

I loved them both when I was a teenager. If it wasn't for my neighbor, I don't think I would have listened to VH since the early 90s and I went to see Maiden last summer.

I stopped caring about Van Halen around the time of OU812 but I was never a rabid fan in the first place.

I caught a Maiden show about two or three years ago and loved every second of it.

I still occasionally listen to Iron Maiden, I rarely listen to Van Halen. However, I do really like "Everybody Wants Some!!"

Maiden is WAY more entertaining but give Eddie his props. He's a natural on that guitar and that's a rare thing.
I didn't know Eddie played.

I'd rather listen to classic VH these days than Maiden, they had a kinetic energy to them that was absolute explosive. Maiden too, especially live, but there was always something more cold and technical to it while VH was natural and organic. Something that seems like pure chance.

They did not age as well as an act though, that's for certain.

Iron Maiden is a big part of my youth, and I still like their stuff up until Seventh Son. As a singer I liked what Bruce brought in those years. As much as I like Paul and the first 2 albums, he clearly was not fit for purpose where the band was going.

I lost a lot of respect for Bruce when he recently stated he was a Brexiteer, and that he wasn't worried about leaving the EU, because Maiden was big enough to be able to continue playing in Europe after the UK leaves the EU, and if not, they could always just play Japan again. Yeah, thanks Bruce for not giving a crap about and screwing over those thousands of UK bands that do not have a shit ton of money and highly paid lawyers to allow them to tour outside of their own country. And at the same time killing the UK gigging scene, because no European band will be able to afford playing in the UK anymore. Let's just forget how you made your millions and screw all those European fans who funded your luxury lifestyle.

Sorry to get all political, I'd rather talk about how Adrian Smith is the sole reason why I play guitar. His solos have always been tasteful and appropriate to the song, and he is a killer songwriter.
