upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mavericks on my iMac...should I?

I'm wondering if this is a good idea or not. My banking software won't run on anything lower than Mountain Lion (which I have on my work computer) but I want to work on my stuff for taxes in the mornings from home.

We have been waiting to upgrade at work so IT can run some tests on it. I talked to our mac IT guy right before Christmas, and he seemed to think it was fine so far.

It sounds like it should run a little "lighter" than what I've got. Do you think the specs on this machine will be a problem?

My machines seem just fine with it. The only thing I don't like is that the spell correct seems more aggressive. I was guessing that was an OS thing as I did not change anything else, and it seems to apply to email, this forum and other programs regardless.

I'll probably do it this morning then. I'm starting to run into problems where I can't upgrade things here. At work I can't do it because ProTools won't work with the new OS, but I'm on Mountain Lion so it doesn't matter that much there.

@dodgechargerfan would this computer run Maverick

better? Its my front desk mac mini.....I might swap computers if this one has a little more power since it does very little at work:

:hmm:

I might take it home with me tonight then. and try it...we have uch faster internet there.

What's the benefits to upgrading?

For me its just about compatibility with a specific piece of software. I like some of the new features but it did kind of bog this machine down. The hard drive seems to run a lot more now.n I'm going to swap this out with my reception Mac Mini this weekend I think...
