Updated my pedalboard… but not how you would expect….

Met the guys from Metaldozer Machine Works at NAMM. They have made custom stands and stage pieces for hundreds of well known acts, but what caught my attention was Prince.

I bought a clever little plate from them that I drilled and mounted to my pedal board…. So I’m not wrestling with the stupid tripod legs next to my board. A quick release collar and the mic stand plugs right into the board.

Also, I tidied up the board by making a custom power adapter for the Kemper that loops around and plugs into the power strip, while leaving some open spots for phone charger, vocal monitor, or stage fan.

@mystixboi1 You should get one of these little testers. They’re like $9 and can quickly tell you if the outlet you are about to use has any cables swapped (possible noise source) or has a bad ground. (Zzzrrrtt….). I keep one in the bottom of my gig rig.

I need to ponder this only because of cost. It is something that I thought of long ago but had forgotten.

Price wise steep for the mount. Only saying that because I would pickup for at least 3 different boards that I use. The quick release looks is awesome!!!

The advantage I see is the mic stand is placed in the same position every time which is the key advantage.

If you don't mind threading it... there are WAAAAY cheaper solutions. I primarily experimented with this because of the quick release snap collar. This is the most important part of the puzzle. I got an open package "demo" for $22.

Beyond that... you just need to thread it into something... so any kind of small plate with threaded hole and a lock nut would probably take care of it. I retro-fitted the end of an old Gator stand, but the chuck is kinda lame, so I'll probably order the recommended Atlas stand for another $40.

Yes I would've jumped on it a $22. The quick connect is what intrigued me. Maybe in time.

Also I would need to find the right stand to retro fit.

Mostly this part... the thing that looks like an automotive differential has a ring that you pull up on to disconnect the mic stand from the pedal board. (almost like a giant strap button).

I have a gig on Friday and I'll take another photo of how clean my stage setup is (and will be even cleaner when I go to using in-ears full time).

The other part of this is my continued effort to make my rig smaller, lighter, and faster to set up and break down.

Once I get to the point where I can roll a little platform on stage, press a button and it opens up like a flower pedal.... and I just set my pedal board down, plug into the jacks that are built into the platform, and just play... then I will have succeeded. :helper:

that^^ is why i am at 3/4 pedals and my amp is a Egnater Rebel 30 head sitting on a EV/Thiele TL-806 1x12 cab loaded with a EVM-12L :thu:
(the pic is kinda dark, so the rig is sitting on a milk crate covered with a black cloth. that's the ampeg bass amp to the right)

To clarify... when I say "My Rig" I mean the PA, mixer, monitors, mic stands, cables, instruments, and mics. :wink:
