Time to build a Digital Board

Modern Saint

Starve your Fear, Feed your Dream!
After seeing so many going towards digital board and some venues where the requirements are no amps, I have bit the bullet. I have slowly started to buy pieces from gear that I have sold to put this together. The bigger Tone-X was a battle between it a Neural Nano Cortex. Let the experimentation begin!!!

I would replace the HX One with an HX Stomp. In fact, I’ve been contemplating a board with a big ToneX and an HX Stomp XL.

The problem with the HX One is that it only allows a single effect at a time. With the HX Stomp or Stomp XL, you can have up to 8 fx in a chain at the same time. I’ve never used that many at once, but 1 is often NOT enough.

Welcome to the dark side.
I had a Line6 LivePodXT but it was only good for online jamming and recording.

I thought about that back when I bought the HX One. It was purchased originally to replace a Line 6 MM4 which is only one effect at a time anyway so no biggie. FWIW, I am not one who uses a lot even though my analog board is quite populated. Also I don't usually use more than one time effect at one time. The ToneX covers - "time-based and modulation effects, as this update grants you two distinct delays, chorus, flanger, tremolo, phaser, and rotary effects". Its almost where the HX One may not be necessary. Still have to play with it though.

I forgot about the fx that have been added to the ToneX and ToneX One pedals. You should be fine.

I'm kinda at a point where if I were in this position I'd probably just use my existing board with a UA Dream at the end, or if I were allowed fancy stereo a Dream on one side and a Ruby on the other.

I considered that as I have a Quilter interface that I used for online and DAW recording. My choice to go in another direction is that is where the industry is going. With that said, I moved a lot of the pedals I no longer use and now working on my amp brood. I will still own amps and prefer to go that route but I need to have options.

What kind of music venue tells you that you can’t bring an amp? I’m perplexed by this concept.
Restaurants, Churches, Casinos and some large venues. Many of these places have noise ordinances and use dB monitor that may contain a kill switch. In other words, your volume gets too loud and the system drops power to stage.

I've used my ToneX and ToneX One boards on 4 out of five gigs this week. I do a lot of simple low-volume gigs where just one or two great sounds get me through the day. My FM9 is still my main "big gig" rig, though. It just has a ton of flexibility that I need for the cover stuff or specialty gigs.

You can see my battery powered ToneX One board from last night at House of Blues in this picture. Since ToneX allows you to bake the effects into presets now its even easier to feel comfortable with such a small rig. Amalgam Audio makes my favorite capture packs for ToneX.

I agree regarding Amalgam Audio captures. Those are my favorites as well for my ToneX One.

That sounds un-fun. I’ve never played in a church or a casino. My favorite restaurant I’ve played was the House of Blues for a number of reasons. A big one was they had backline so I’d play through a Victoria 4x10 Bassman. Those were the good old days when you could blast a 32 ounce porterhouse steak off someone’s plate with your rockin’ tube tones.
