Dig it! This is neat: The High Numbers live in 1964

Cool clip.

I never realized Pete was that much taller than Roger. Quite noticeable when they're sharing the mic at the beginning of that first song.

Did anyone spot a bell boy in the crowd?

On an off topic, why were Rickenbackers so much more common than Fenders and Gibsons in the UK during the 60s? Early Beatles, Stones, Who, etc were usually with Ricks and Gretchs. I've read that it was difficult to get Fenders and Gibsons since they had to be imported, but the same would be true with Ricks and Gretchs, which seemed to be more common. Maybe they were cheaper?

There were various trade restrictions against imported guitars so a lot of the US guitars were ones that made it over with individual players (like Harrison’s first Gretsch) and people bought what they could get Lennon bought his first Ric in Hamburg. And once the beat boom happened, Rics and Gretsches were hot because of the Beatles. I think a number of the UK shops eventually worked out imports arrangements with US brands. There were even UK-specific versions of various Rics. And I think there were exclusive dealer runs of Fenders that would be repainted a la Hank Marvin’s guitar.
