James Franciscus, how about going back to being Oscar? and drop the tired JammityScold schtick?

we may not all be outstanding guitarists, but i'm pretty sure we're all music fans, and as such, we will have our likes and dislikes, and we'll have spirited, entertaining discussions around those likes and dislikes. how about allowing us that with out the JammityScold persona feeling the need to jump in and show his superior character?

i remember you from GJ many years ago and you were alright back then. i'm sorry, Oscar, but the Jammity persona does you no favors.

as OGG posted above, lots of forumites have met you and have nothing but positive things to say. i don't get it.


Scott Henderson is a great player. the music is not wholly my cuppa, but i can, and do, enjoy that style in small doses. it'll probably be a good show. i'd like to get past the Jammity character to care enough to want to listen.

Mark, feel free to delete this if i've crossed the line.

You're accusing me of scolding people and I have no idea what you're talking about. The internet obviously looses something in the translation. Some how you feel as though I'm point a finger at you and I have no idea where that comes from. Can you accept that you may have misjudged my intent?

Check out some of OCG's responses when I brought up EW&F and Richie Kotzen. They're not important because he's never heard of them. Also read Keruoac's retorts regarding how Kotzen doesn't matter because 16 of his teacher comrades have never heard of him. I'm not making this up. I'm the victim here.

Stop it. You're not a fucking martyr. Your statement is the forum equivalent of, "I'm not racist, but..."

You're not challenging people's views on music. You're being an elitist, but attempting to bulletproof yourself from from criticism. If you want to contribute, great. But don't pretend like you're doing us a favor.

see, here's the thing Oscar. nobody cares who the artist is when you add "and if you don't know who this is and don't agree with me then you're a poor excuse for a human being." which is a fun schtick over at GJ. here, not so much. so give up the schtick, and just be Oscar. or go back to GJ. it's your choice.
 
For Christ's sake, I pimp Tom Waits around here like he's my bottom bitch, but when people drop the inevitable Cookie Monster comparisons I don't go on a tirade explaining how everyone else is wrong.

This is a forum. People exchange ideas and opinions. But if you act defensive when someone disagrees, the problem isn't then. It's YOU.

Go to the Paul Gilbert thread and remind yourself of your cartoon disrespect of a great guitarist. I'm no elitist. I appreciate all kinds of music. I think you're the one with the snobby opinions about shredders and instrumental guitarists. It's documented here.

no, you're not. you're being asked to drop the persona and just be a contributing forumite. and you've been asked this by the owner of the site. it's not my forum and i'm not a moderator. i'm just telling you what i'm seeing in this thread as related to what i've seen over the past 11 years on GJ.

Questioning why you dislike Paul Gilbert is not defensive. I only to seek to understand. I think you guys are blowing things way out of proportion or aren't use to supporting your opinions. I think this is the crux of the biscuit here.
