The Never Ending Gig Thread!

My brother's wedding band had a gig for the French national rugby team and association after their 6 nations game with Scotland yesterday.

I sent him a text asking how it went. His response:

SHIT. Got caught in traffic after the game, car battery disconnected doing an illegal u-turn on North George St (one of the busiest streets in central Edinburgh for our friends across the pond.) so I got stuck and had to push the car to the venue.

I replied asking how the gig itself was.

Response:

Shit too. Full of French people.

Things are finally starting to get busy. Literally just got back an hour ago from our trip to play Alfred State University in NY. Had a Nashville show last weekend. This next week? Maryland and Pennsylvania. w00t!! Also, April is gonna be busy. Really good and busy

here ar a few from this weekends show. We are slowly but steadily building a good reputation, and bringing more and more people to each show

Well our college show in PA fell through, and we had to reschedule what would've been tonight's show in MD. Our vocalist took a bad spill at home and really hurt her lower back. We made it an hour out of Nashville before deciding to turn back and not go to Maryland. Also, the AC in our van busted :(

With filming next week, and shows continuing after, it just didn't seem worth the gamble with our singer's back.

Ending my little feb-march "tour" tomorrow night, this time with the classic rock cover band.

Over the last 5 weeks or so it's been 10 gigs (plus about 15-20 various rehearsals) with 5 different bands/freelance gigs.
With a full day job in addition to that, you can tell I'm really fuckin exhausted. Going to be bloody beautiful with a long weekend off during Easter. :)

will do :)

Good thing about having gained a good reputation locally for a number of years. I'm usually the first guy people call, and as long as I have time I grab every gig I can.
If anything I'm good at adapting to different genres and settings with minimal fuss and little practice and never do a bad job. The fact I can read notes/scores doesn't hurt either. It really does pay off in the long run. :thu:

Should be a fairly slow month in April until it picks up again with a slew of gigs in May and June.:)

Well....

Our gig yesterday?? Yeah...one of those.

We have played this club a couple times before and always had at least a decent crowd. Last night there were probably a grand total of 15 people in the club other than the staff. And ten to eleven of those people came to see us. meaning there were probably 4 to 5 people in the club otherwise all night. Hard to keep the energy up when no on is dancing and almost no one there...

I was pretty unhappy with my playing in the first set, but it was probably my strongest vocal night in a long time.
