The Friday Thread

Might be a bit of a wait on those tree stands, Foo, as I've never welded anything before. 'Course, if you enjoy falling out of them, I'm sure I could tack something together for ya
That's all I'm askin'. The deer and other critters find me very entertaining.

I was working from home but when I had a spare moment:

I started my summer of Fridays off last week.

Last week was a friend's wedding.

This week. I'm trying to do as little as possible.
I had an early start to the day yesterday - 4:30 AM - and had to present to a room full of people.
Now, talking for an hour doesn't seem like it would be very physically strenuous, but I'm finding that it is.
My voice started going out while just chatting with folks before I presented.
The mic and PA weren't doing me any favors. So, I was really working to project my voice to the back of the room.
I tend to wing it during these presentations because parroting the canned message bores me to tears and I really can't do it. Presenters before me touched on some of the same topics. So, I had to relate back to what they said and adjust my spiel on the fly. All while watching about 50 people stare at me and while trying to connect with everyone (and "popping" my voice when I see that one guy start to dose off :) ) I was thinking on my feet while trying to sound like I knew what I was talking about.

It seems silly as I type this, but I'm still zonked.

I actually had to stop on the way home yesterday and walk around and get some food to keep from falling asleep at the wheel.

Today, I still feel like someone kicked the crap out of me, and I slept in until 10.

I could probably do with some breathing lessons from a vocal teacher.

I might go for a cruise later on, but only if I can get a nap.

This seems a bit lopsided . . .

The seventh-generation member of the famed Flying Wallendas had long dreamed of pulling off the feat that had never been attempted. An estimated 125,000 people were expected on the Canadian side and 4,000 on the American side.

Tonight I'm going to Troegs for a few beers and a bite for dinner, then home to watch some of the Phils game and US Open highlights.

Tomorrow is a busy one. Running errands that morning, then going to my nephew's little league playoff game, then making my grilled poppers and taking them to a buddy's cookout to celebrate his new job/upcoming kid/end of freedom. I will likely drink much and pass out somewhere there.

Sunday I will recover with the final round of the US Open, do some laundry and chill.

I was a National Sales Trainer for Wamu for several years. I know exactly how you feel.

Tonight I'm heading over to a friend's for dinner and drinks, see my buddy's new Vizsla puppy and drink some fine microbrews.

Tomorrow we're going to 2man's cookout for much beer, charred animal flesh and possibly frisbee bowling.

Sunday is recovery day, probably just do chores around the house and some laundry and be glued to the couch.

Day off today. I ate breakfast. Now I'm thinking about lunch..
I went shopping again last night. I think that's what's making me so tired and screwing up my weekend.
I sprayed a colour coat on a new WAHLTER enclosure. I had to start over on the finish for that customer build.
I put one right angle connector on the Lava Pedal board kit that I got. Now, I need to rest my fingers. It's not that tough, but I have trouble working with small things. (Only two joints in my thumbs instead of three.)

Now I want a nap.

Will probably hang out in the pool this afternoon.
EDit: Oh yeah, We're going to see these guys tonight, too. http://vinylflux.ca/

Tomorrow, going to see the matinee show at the Shaw Festival with friends. http://www.shawfest.com/playbill/present-laughter/story/
Then dinner here: http://ravinevineyard.com/

Sunday. No idea.

Monday, go to lottery office and cash in winning lotto ticket and stop by the office to quit. At least that's the plan, but there's one thing that has to fall into place first.

Today is our wedding anniversary so Mrs D and I will probably go out and eat someplace semi-nice.

Other than a couple of runs and some yard work I don't have much planned for the weekend. #3 son leaves home for the Marines on Sunday evening so I am guessing at least Saturday evening/Sunday we will try to do some family stuff.

We're all going to the Wisconsin Dells for a few days. Staying here:

Taking a friend of my 6 year old so I can actually relax a little. Will still have the baby though.

Here's what I actually accomplished:

I sprayed a colour coat on a new WAHLTER enclosure. I had to start over on the finish for that customer build.
Cleaned up the rec room.
Went to the beer store. Bought beer. Drank none.

..and we're not going out to see that band.

Last week I got some brochures in the mail, and even a phone call, from one of the area retirement homes... Maybe they know something I don't, but I'm starting to regret tossing the brochures in the recycling bin.

Got home to a fussy baby, so I took over so the wife could go spend time with her horsie. Finally got the rugrat to eat and go to sleep by 8, fed the dogs and cats, then did about 10 minutes of qigong. Fired up teh wii and did 20 minutes of wii fit. Now I'm tired and drinking beers and sitting on teh couch

last minute gig tonight, work tomorrow morning and my wifes company picnic at Knotts Berry Farm tomorrow afternoon. I'll try and sleep on SUnday.
