here's a pic of an uncovered Virtual P90 next to a standard humbucker:

it's just a smaller humbucker. the coils are wound differently so you can vary the sound greatly by adjusting pole pieces and overall pickup height.

because you don't want a P-90. you want a humbucker that fits into a P-90 slot with no routing.

Well, you could always take the Gibson blueshawk approach, which simply adds a dummy coil in the back of the guitar that cancels hum.

I have a Flatroc with filtertrons, I like the sounds of those. The other is a Jetstream HB I like the sound of them with the bbc rolled all the way off, but that's because that makes them sound like P-90's.
