thanks for everything Phil

Just saw this. Man…

At least he reached a ripe ol’ age, in spite of some serious health issues over the years.

That's sad to hear, but not too surprising. As Tiger Roach pointed out, he had health issues and 84 is a good run. Keep on truckin' on, Phil.

I was fortunate to see Phil with the Grateful Dead twice. Also, Phil Lesh & Friends with Warren Haynes was a killer live show! He’ll always be at the top of my list of favorite bass players.

RIP

He lived one hell of a life. 84 years and he was touring in the Dead for much of it. I’m jealous.

Saw a lot of Dead shows in my youth. Sad Day. RIP
I actually show up for a couple seconds of the Ticket to New Years video of the 1987 New years show at the Oakland coliseum. Right after midnight Balloons falling, During "Hell in a Bucket "

To me the astonishing thing about Phil was his seeming ability to read Jerrys mind, know exactly where he was going, and play an amazing counter melody in real time. I dont think such a unique and symbiotic relationship will ever be duplicated, but I like to think that conversation is still going on out there in the ether for us to grab a piece of in those rare moments when the universe aligns.
RIP Phil. One of a kind.

While I have never been to a Grateful Dead show, the giant tank of nitrous oxide that almost killed me has.
Sad.
RIP

The dead were one of those bands where everybody could feel comfortable in the audience. Always a great time even when the band was off.
