I was kind of looking forward to seeing how much more Lucas could destroy the franchise...you know, kind of like how you have to look at a horrible car accident when you drive by.

Of course, I'm glad to see someone else take over and save the whole thing, but still, I kind of wanted to see Lucas further damage his image.
 
He's 70 and has a 17 month old daughter? No way I'd want to be starting over at 70. It was hard enough in my 30s.

As far as the movies go...yeah, he pretty much peaked with the first one.
 
Well, when you sell something, the new owners can do what they want.
I'm still very disappointed in jj Abrams directing, though. We'll get yet another summer blockbuster shoot-em-up. Yawn.

And yet you had to post to tell us that, so you must care about it a some level.

I will reserve judgement on Disney's decision to leave Uncle George out of the creative process until I see the new film for myself, but I doubt they could do much worse than he has been doing lately.

GL even managed to ruin Indiana Jones with that POS Indy 4 :facepalm:

Not even kidding or making the statement to get a reaction, I do not understand int he slightest why what to me is a mediocre couple of sci films has such a place in the cultural zeitgeist to this day.

I mean I'll tell folk all day long that The Beatle's are the poor man's Kinks but I get why people like them, Star Wars.... I'm lost.

Technically, Star Wars just barely fits within the borders of sci fi. They are more like matinee serials.

If you don't get it, you don't get it. No big deal.

OK man...You're not alone. I think I may have watched the first one whenever that was and haven't watched another since. Couldn't even tell you how many there were or when the last one came out...
 
I thought they were boring even when I was young, but I kind appreciate them. Kinda. I've probably spent sub 5 hours watching them my entire life. Pretty sure I've never actually sat through an entire one.
