I am glad to say that it is now gone!

I was at the local GC checking out used gear and saw a tribute there but it was the Cherry one selling for $599.

My preference was the Vintage Sunburst but I got a chance to check the guitar out. Pulled it off the rack and found that guitar is long. The balance was nice though and not neck heavy. The neck though was quite wide and to me thick like a baseball bat. Thank goodness this the one in Illinois was sold before I could buy it.

So with that said, how many of you have bought a guitar sight unseen other than pics and found that you regretted your purchase?

What did you do with the guitar? Flip it? Keep It because you couldn't get rid of it? Keep it and try to bond with it?

I have only bought one guitar sight unseen off of ebay around 2003-2004. It is my Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion and I loved it when I got it. It took a while to bond but when I did, it was a magic.

I have bought several guitars off of ebay sight unseen. None really lasted a long time but a couple were around for awhile. Part of that was me buying something I 'hoped' I could bond with and it just didn't happen. I did that with Strats for probably a decade. So many of my fave players are strat guys, but I did not bond with any of them that I owned (which was probably 7 or 8).

Many of my more recent purchases have been sight unseen, but took the chance based on familiarity with the brand and knowing there is a refund policy. I have yet to return one, though.

I have regretted a few. But I have been pleasantly surprised by at least as many.

Firebird GAS gone? How about this?

I've done it a hundred times. That said, almost all of them were back out the door (flipped), or given away if they were pretty cheap. There are some guitars that I wanted forever, savde up, and eventually bought. I still have most of those. The others were what I perceived to be enough of a bargain to check out, knowing that I had a good chance of getting my money back on the other end.

I think my Alley Kat was the only one I bought sight unseen. Had a love/hate relationship with that one. It's gone now.
Unless its something really special, my policy is try before you buy.

I've bought every Xavierre I've owned sight unseen... and sold them all. Not that they were bad, just didn't see any reason to keep 'em. Bought my roadworn strat sight unseen and love it.

I had a similar experience with the Explorer. I got a really good deal on an Epi explorer (with case) on CL, but found two issues: 1) that thing is REALLY long and heavy, and 2) I looked ridiculous wearing it... :(

This just arrived on Friday, and I couldn't be happier. To be honest, I took a chance based on the return policy, and because the sale price was so good, that in time it might sell for more than I paid for it if I didn't like it. I did play a 72' Reissue Thinline Tele once, so this was not totally foreign to me. The more I play it, the more I like it.
